Thank you for your interest in Super Swimming lessons with Kristen Bowers! Below is information about myself, general available times and policies. Registration for new students is now done online on the New Student Registration Page.
I look forward to working with the wonderful residents of McKay's Mill for my eleventh year. (Please note, I can only teach McKay's residents at McKay's Mill Pool unless they are with residents in a semi-private lesson.) As a teacher, I'm patient, fun, skilled, and I teach students of all ages. I have been swimming laps regularly for over 35 years, swim in Master's Swimming and have taught swim lessons for thirteen years. I've been married 24 years and have a son going into Robotics Engineering at the University of Alabama Huntsville. During the school year I teach 35-55 private French Horn with some music students in the summer as well.

Parent/child lessons are available with the same rates. I assist you in knowing how to teach your young child.
Lessons for adults and those with special needs are gladly offered as well.
General times available are:
Mon & Thurs afternoon and evenings
Wed & Sat morning and afternoons.
To sign up for lessons for the first time, please use the registration page on this website (found in the menu). Using the portal will enable you to sign up for, view and change lesson times yourself up to 24 hours in advance. Also you can view your account balance and pay from there using a payment link, Venmo or Zelle (an invoice will be sent as well). It's easy to log onto and use. Again, the website is: superswimming.athletadesk.com Returning students just use or reset your username and password. If needed, we can schedule lessons over the phone, text or email but using the website is by far the easiest and best.
At McKay's Mill Pool I am only allowed to teach residents (semi-private lessons with a guest have been permitted).
Payment
Payment should be made before or at the first lesson. Your balance and online payment can be accessed on the website. In the portal where you schedule lessons, the calendar will appear first. Next to the Calendar title are 3 lines that you click on to see other categories including Account and Invoices. Go to that category. Payment can be made directly by clicking on the payment button. A debit card or PayPal can be used however there is a 2% charge (I pay 2% myself). Venmo or Zelle has no charge, with details below. These options are spelled out in the Account and Invoice section also.
invoice sent will also show the dates and times you have signed up for. On the invoice will be a link to make a payment.
Payment forms:

▪ Zelle at kristenbowershorn@gmail.com or (615) 429-6538
▪ Use the payment link on your emailed invoice. PayPal or debit/credit card may be used. There is a 2% charge added to your cost (and a 2% charge to me as well). It will send you an automatically credit your account and send you a receipt.
▪ You can use PayPal without a charge by sending it to bobandkristen@yahoo.com
▪ check made out to Kristen Bowers
Cancellations must be made 48 hours in advance to receive a lesson credit. Less than 48 hours and more than 24 hours would have a fee of half the cost (I lose money by not being able to fill open lesson spots). If you yourself find another student to trade with or fill your spot, there would not be a charge. Farther in advance is appreciated so others may access available times. Illnesses are excused. Emergencies may be charged half. Lessons will be rescheduled for lightning/pool closings. For partial lessons either the time will be made up or the cost will be prorated.
As with most all pools, if thunder or lightening is observed anywhere, the pool is closed for 30 minutes from the last detected instance of lightning or thunder. I will try to be in contact when it's uncertain but will often be in the pool teaching before that point. On the day of your lesson if there is more than 50% chance of rain, you can reschedule without penalty. Lessons can happen with rain but not lightning or thunder anywhere in the area. If it is just a chance of storms, such as 50% or less, we usually still try to have lessons. Please make sure I have your cell phone number and the cell phone number of any other person bringing your child so I can contact you.
I often use incentives for younger children such as stickers, pencils, small toys etc. (I don't give out candy/sugar). If you know of things that motivate your child or would like to share ways they learn best, please let me know!
If you share traits about your child's learning style, that can be very helpful as well.
I hope to get to work with you and your child!
Thank you!
